Job Title: Obstetrician and Gynecologist FSR # 804

Consultancy Agreement

Location: Zaatari Camp

JOB SUMMARY:

The Obstetrician and Gynecologist is a medical doctor specialized in providing comprehensive maternal and newborn health services to women and girls in clinical setting.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide medical care to pregnant and postpartum patients by prescribing appropriate treatment and care. 
  2. Perform necessary and appropriate surgical procedures in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department. Supervise difficult deliveries and perform surgical interventions when necessary. 
  3. Supervise and cover night shifts at maternity department for emergency procedures/operations, resolving technical issues within the maternity hospital.  
  4. Manage and provide advice regarding the transfer of obstetric emergencies to other departments and external hospitals, when necessary.   
  5. Visit patients, guide nursing staff on necessary procedures for each patient, and respond to patient inquiries about their health conditions.  Supervise the admission and discharge of patients under the team's name and instruct resident staff on how to fill out patient discharge forms. 
  6. Provide recommendations for the needs for medical staff, devices, and medical equipment.  Provide a list to the hospital pharmacy of the necessary medicines in the department at the appropriate time. 
  7. Participate in preparing statistical report in the field of specialization (number of NVDs, operative deliveries, cesarean sections, by age group, complications, etc.) and review them. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Gynecology and Obstetrics Board certificate (Jordan or Arabic Council) 
  • License to practice (Issued by Ministry of Health) 
  • Membership in the Doctors' Syndicate as a specialist Gyne/Obs. 

Deliverables 

  • ANC, PNC, and gynecological consultations provided in the OPD. Performed monthly assigned shifts. 
  • NVD, Episiotomies, assisted deliveries conducted. Cesarean sections performed. Provided care for pregnancy complications.
  • Acute obstetric and gynecological emergencies evaluated, managed, and transferred. 
  • Clinical rounds to admitted patients provided. Pre and post op evaluation and counseling performed. 
  • All medical equipment/devices functional and any mal function reported for back up support and maintenance. Zero stock out of essential medicines in the operating room, maternity ward. 
  • Complete patient notes. Verified and authentic medical data reported. Contributed to medical reports. 

Evaluation and Monitoring: 

Appointment of the clinics to be arranged by the referral team and midwives in charge. The number of consultation and surgical procedures including C/S and NVD will be monitored by the hospital management and reported by M/E department.
