Multitask Technician - Daily Worker Pool

CONTEXT

Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery in Amman are seeking a Multitask Technician for our Daily Worker Pool. 

DIMENSION OF POST

Reconstructive Surgery Hospital with an average of 550 admissions per year, over 1000 surgeries annually, 72 surgical beds and 126 rehabilitation beds, 2 OTs for orthopedic, maxillo-facial and plastic reconstructive surgeries, OPD with an average 550 consultations / month, physiotherapy and psychosocial department, and Antimicrobial Resistance activity (Stewardship, IPC and Micro laboratory) within the hospital.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform repair / maintenance / construction works, according to the supervisor’s instructions and MSF standards, to ensure proper operations and prevent faults / deterioration of MSF equipment / installations / infrastructures. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•          Carry out all minor work (construction, repairs, etc.) requested by the line manager, as well as any task identified by the employee and approved by the line manager.

•          Perform regular maintenance of MSF installations / equipment / infrastructures (base, house, store, warehouse, health center, hospital, etc.), particularly in line with a preventive maintenance plan (procedures to follow, schedule, etc.).

•          In the event of faults / deterioration, diagnose the problem and propose possible solutions to the line manager and/or technical adviser.

•          Perform any necessary tests / checks to confirm the proper operation of the installation or equipment after repair.

•          Ensure effective management, protection and care of work tools (including site installations under the employee’s supervision) and keep the workshop tidy.

•          Ensure that there are adequate stocks of consumables and materials for minor repairs and manage those stocks; placing orders in time.

•          Keep all documents related to installations / equipment / infrastructures in order and update them regularly.

•          Immediately inform the line manager of any problems that arise in the course of the work, particularly regarding damage, loss, theft or attempted break-ins.

•          Assist logistics department with any related work needed.

•          Availability for emergencies

•          Participate actively in meetings and trainings. 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

Scope of Responsibilities

• Carry out maintenance and small repairs on MSF’s premises and infrastructures (offices , apartments  etc.)
• Carry out interventions as indicated by the direct supervisor, insourced or outsourced.
• Other request related to the maintenance activities such as swage and water pips, etc.
• Inform the direct supervisor of any problems or breakdowns noticed in MSF’s premises.
• Inform the direct supervisor in the event of an incapacity to carry out the work requested which requires the intervention of a worker or specialized technician.
• Help workers or specialized technicians if needed.
• When work is planned, have a request for material approved by the direct supervisor then use the approved request form to collect material from the log store .
• Carrying out gardening tasks and follow up with watchman , if needed.
• Carrying and moving (Load and off load) equipment, furniture, etc, to support Logistics Department and other departments in the mission.
• Help in new apartment  receiving or hand over  by supporting the inspection and reports.
• Carry out annual services for tools and equipment in MSF premises (offices and apartments)  such as AC , heating boiler system , water dispenser, etc.
• Having validated Jordanian driving license as will be autonomous by driving the Pick-Up for his professional displacements. 

  Equipment

• Carry out inventory of his/her tools and equipment every month and handing it over to his/her direct Supervisor
• Use MSF standard Tools to perform his work.
• Inform his/her direct supervisor of any losses, thefts or replacement needs.
• Use tools and equipment placed at his/her disposition correctly. 

  Safety and Security

• Be a part of the Building Evacuation Plan team, as evacuator, rescue.. etc, as request of the Logistics  supervisor .
• Be aware of all security polices and respect it.
• Maintain all safety and security equipment such as fire extinguishers, cameras, access doors,..etc, functioning in all times. 

  HVAC Services

• Install, maintain and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units. Diagnose and repair of electronic, mechanical and electrical components of these systems.
• Be available to work nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our activities
• Must be proactive in ensuring that preventative maintenance of all equipment is done promptly to help prevent future problems with equipment. They dismantle equipment as necessary when needed to troubleshoot the system or ensure that the equipment is properly maintained.

  Electrical works

• Carry out and update the electrical installations inventory in msf premisses
• Elaborate the necessary documentation for carrying out energy installations projects (plans, list of materials, etc.).
• Explains safety measures regarding electricity to team.
• Performs curative and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Follows up the work of the owner regarding electricity (, low voltage master distribution boards, elevators).

  REQUIRED PROFILE:

  Education	Literacy essential.

  WORK LOCATION:         Amman, Jordan

  CONTRACT:                   In case of current contract with MSF, amendment to the original contract with the same terms and conditions, with modifications on function and salary only.
