Driver - Daily Worker Pool

CONTEXT
Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, non-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed, or political affiliation. Médecins Sans Frontières is running a reconstructive surgery program in Amman, which opened in 2006, is giving access to reconstructive surgery (orthopedic, plastic, and maxillo-facial) to war-wounded people providing comprehensive health care, MSF aims at identifying and referring patients from neighboring countries (Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and other countries with conflicts) then ensuring their medical follow-up after discharge.

Médecins Sans Frontières Reconstructive Surgery in Amman are seeking a Drivers for our Daily Worker Pool.

DIMENSION OF POST

Reconstructive Surgery Hospital with an average of 550 admissions per year, over 1000 surgeries annually, 72 surgical beds and 126 rehabilitation beds, 2 OTs for orthopedic, maxillo-facial and plastic reconstructive surgeries, OPD with an average 550 consultations / month, physiotherapy and psychosocial department, and Antimicrobial Resistance activity (Stewardship, IPC and Micro laboratory) within the hospital.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performing the tasks of transporting authorized goods and passengers in an MSF vehicle, ensuring its technical and safety conditions and respecting the country's traffic rules and MSF security rules, to provide a safe, smooth and efficient service.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

·     Checking daily, the technical conditions of the assigned vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, radio equipment, spare parts, etc.), performing weekly check according to the MSF Logbook, refilling it when necessary, and keeping it clean to ensure it can be driven in perfect conditions. Carrying out a handover if another uses the vehicle

·       Ensuring the security of passengers in the vehicle, driving carefully, observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as MSF security rules, in order to avoid car accidents.

·     Ensuring all passengers have all necessary papers in order before travelling, and ensuring non-MSF staff sign disclaimers of responsibility before using the vehicle

·     Ensuring correct loading and unloading of the vehicle, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring that the goods have the necessary documents

·        Ensuring that all vehicle documents and the driver's driving license are valid and in the vehicle.

·         Informing the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers and/or goods.

·         Ensure the safe transport of Patients during movements to hotel, airport, and external appointments

·         Provide needed assessment to Patients for entering and exiting the vehicle during transport

·         On call when needed to drive the ambulance during times of emergency.

·     Knowing and respecting the security rules related to vehicle movements, specifically those related to customs, checkpoints and roadblocks. Ensuring all passengers know and respect the security rules

 MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

Safety and Compliance

·       Garanti compliance with MSF’s road safety protocols, including the Amman Road Safety SOP and internal fleet regulations.

·    Garanti pre-departure checks daily (vehicle condition, documentation, safety equipment, patient load protocol).

·         Always ensure all passengers respect rules. Informe your manager if rules are not respected.

·      Garanti that mobile devices use are only through authorized hands-free systems. One ear must remain free to preserve situational awareness.

·    Contribute to reporting any misuse of MSF vehicles, including unauthorized passengers or personal shopping, directly to the line manager.

Patient Transport & Welfare

·         Ensure safe and respectful assistance to all patients during entry and exit from the vehicle.

·     Contribute to alert to the patient’s behavior and health status; report any concern immediately to the hospital logistic manager.

·        Ensure vehicles are disinfected after every patient transfer in coordination with the hygiene team and IPC standards.

Training and Institutional Obligations

·     Ensure participation in all mandatory training related to safety, emergency response, patient care, and vehicle use, which is considered a functional requirement for the role.

Communication and Coordination

·    Ensure the log all movement data in the online tracking system and paper logbook when required following standard instruction.

·         Ensure the notification of departure and arrival times to their supervision.

·     Ensure communication on road incidents, technical issues, or patient-related alerts immediately to line management.

·         Contribute to other staff in understanding and complying with transport safety rules. Raise any resistance or misconduct encountered.

·         Garanti reactivity in response to emergency movement in the hospital.

Fleet Efficiency and Environmental Responsibility

·         Contribute to eco-driving principles and optimize vehicle usage to reduce unnecessary mileage and fuel consumption.

·         Ensure Proactive report of mechanical issues or damage to logistics supervisors.

Behavior and Conduct

·         Maintain a professional demeanor with patients, colleagues, and external parties. Avoid unnecessary interaction with authorities unless instructed.

·         Uphold the image of MSF by wearing proper attire and ID, and by always acting respectfully.

·    Refrain from intervening in patient conflicts, disciplining patients, or engaging in any form of verbal aggression.

·      Drivers are not authorized to enforce rules on patients beyond those concerning immediate transport safety. Non-compliance must be reported, not handled directly.

REQUIRED PROFILE:

WORK LOCATION:         Amman, Jordan

CONTRACT:                   In case of current contract with MSF, amendment to the original contract with the same terms and conditions, with modifications on function and salary only.
