Job Purpose
The Junior Infrastructure Engineer (Civil Engineer) will support the Senior Engineer in implementing landslide protection and sediment control activities at the Mujib Dam. Responsibilities include reviewing project documents, providing technical guidance to volunteers, supervising construction to ensure compliance with quality standards, and managing both refugee and Jordanian volunteers. The role operates under the supervision of the Project Coordinator.
Major Responsibilities
Supervision & Compliance (45%):
Oversee Cash-for-Work (CFW) teams to ensure construction aligns with approved plans, SOPs, and local/national standards.
Validate that all work adheres to design specifications, contract documents, and safety regulations.
Technical Review & Design (5%):
Review drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ).
Ensure final deliverables meet technical standards and regulatory requirements.
Data Collection & MEAL Support (15%):
Assist in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities to inform project design and implementation.
Safety Coordination (10%):
Collaborate with the Construction Coordinator to mitigate environmental and safety risks.
Conduct safety training to maintain a hazard-free worksite.
Quality Assurance (15%):
Assess materials and construction methods against defined standards.
Ensure compliance with design specifications throughout project execution.
Additional Duties (10%):
Support the Project Coordinator/Manager with ad hoc tasks to ensure project flexibility and success.
Knowledge/Qualifications
Experience:
2+ years in civil engineering projects (e.g., riprap, gabion walls, reinforced concrete structures).
Experience supervising 30+ workers and familiarity with CFW projects; GIZ-funded projects are a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water/Environmental Engineering, or related field.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Skills:
Strong reporting abilities and teamwork ethic.
Based near Mujib Dam Catchment Area (Alkarak) for the project duration.
Work Environment
Travel: 95% fieldwork (Mujib Dam site), 5% office-based reporting.
Physical Requirements: On-site presence at the dam location.
Language: Fluency in written and spoken English required.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer: Daily reporting.
Field Coordinator: Daily coordination.
Project Manager: Daily updates.

Independent Decisions: Routine tasks within established policies.
Higher Approval Required:
Procurement exceeding set thresholds.
Decisions impacting external stakeholders or deviating from guidelines.
