  Unit: Communication and Media Unit

Job Title : Communication and Media Officer

Job Objective: The Communications & Media Officer will support the Communication & Media unit in campaigns, events, programs and daily operations with photography, assisting in achieving the Unit’s work plan’s objectives and deliverables.

Background: The Jordanian National Commission for Women was established as a national mechanism to advance the status of women in Jordan under Cabinet Resolution No. 21/11/3382 in 1992, chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, and with the membership of the relevant ministers and representatives of civil society institutions and the private sector, based on Jordan's commitment to advancing the status of women and enhancing their participation in achieving sustainable development and confirming its implementation of its national, Arab and international commitments. In 15/05/2025 the National Commission for Women’s law No. 11/2025 was issued.  In order to achieve its objectives, the Commission shall undertake the following duties and powers:

  1. Collaborating with government entities to develop public policies related to women and to identify national priorities in this regard.
  2. Preparing the National Strategy for Women, following up on its implementation, working on its update and development, and submitting it to the Cabinet for approval.
  3. Participating in the development of sectoral strategies and plans related to women’s affairs.
  4. Reviewing and evaluating legislation, contributing to its development to ensure women’s empowerment and the absence of discrimination, and proposing relevant laws and regulations in coordination with concerned entities.
  5. Establishing an observatory to collect and monitor quantitative and qualitative data and information on the status of women and their participation in various fields, in accordance with relevant legislation.
  6. Issuing a periodic report on the status of women in the Kingdom, including achievements at the national level, challenges, and related recommendations, and submitting a copy to the Prime Minister.
  7. Coordinating with governmental and non-governmental entities and civil society organizations regarding women’s affairs to ensure the integration of efforts.
  8. Raising public awareness about women’s rights and the importance of their effective participation in various fields.
  9. Contributing to the provision of technical support to governmental bodies and national institutions to institutionalize gender equality and women’s empowerment in plans, budgets, and programs.
  10. Following up on efforts aimed at achieving the objectives of international conventions and treaties related to women’s affairs that have been ratified by the Kingdom, and contributing to the preparation of related national reports in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  11. Conducting research and studies related to women’s affairs.
  12. Participating in representing the Kingdom in local, Arab, and international bodies, conferences, and meetings related to women’s affairs.

Key Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Communication:
    • Assist the manager in developing projects/ campaigns’ plans.
    • Develop content as requested for various purposes and materials.
    • Work and coordinate with the social media officer to make sure all content is published synchronized across all JNCW’s social media platforms
    • Using CANVA to develop some of the required forms, infographics, presentations, calendar events’ visuals and more to support the operations in the Media and Communication Unit and other units.
    • Work & follow up with the Networks/ Alliances Officer on developing required plans, holding necessary meetings and following up on implementation of related activities by the Networks members.
    • Undertake quality control of the content and materials and designs generated by the unit, ensuring all branding and visual identity guidelines are applied.
    • Assist the manager & team members in tenders of the service vendors according to the organization’s guidelines and rules.
    • Develop & submit requested performance reports of implemented campaigns. Programs and projects
    • Act as the focal point with partners, service providers and other internal units’ members.
    • Monitor JNCW’s website and make sure it is up to date, and coordinate necessary updates with the events & visual media officer.
    • Assist the Social Media Officer in taking required stories and photos when needed
    • Assist in overseeing the photography and videography services by the contracted media agency during events, workshops, sessions and make sure of producing high quality photos.
    • Perform any other job-related tasks assigned by the direct manager.
  2. Media and Public Relations:
    • Develop PR/ media plans to promote required advocacy/ awareness campaign messages, in addition to implementation.
    • Communicate and coordinate with the Media outlets/ persons to achieve PR/ media plan’s goals, as well as maintaining relations.
    • Maintain an updated database of Media outlets’ focal points.
    • Support in details related to organizing events as assigned by the manager, and in coordination with the Events & Logistics officer.

Academic Qualifications:

Basic: Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital communication, social media or any related field.

Experience:Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field or post.

Desirable: 

  • Proficiency in using CANVA
  • Experience in the usage of MS Office software Applications
