Job Description:
Agriculture Engineer (Cash for Work Project - Forestry Plantation) is important in ensuring the sustainable growing of forestry trees within a designated plantation site under GIZ Cash for Work initiative. The primary objective of this position is to oversee the efficient management of plantation activities, spanning from initial planning to ongoing implementation, monitoring, and assessment. By leveraging expertise in agriculture, forestry, and environmental science, the Agriculture Engineer contributes significantly to environmental preservation endeavours while concurrently providing short term employment opportunities to local communities. Close collaboration with project manager, forestry specialists, and community stakeholders is essential to realize project goals, which include facilitating trees growth, development of lands, and advancing socioeconomic empowerment project. In the long run, the main objective is to facilitate the sustainable stewardship of forestry plantations, bolster biodiversity conservation efforts, and fortify regional socioeconomic development through the adoption of ecologically sound practices and robust community involvement
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS OF THE ROLE
Required Professional Experience
2 or more years of full-time technical & professional experience in a similar role.
Proven experience in Agriculture projects, irrigation Networks assembly and design and plantation sites
Proven experience in plantation management and plants taking care
Strong technical knowledge of forestry practices, tree species identification, and plantation management techniques.
Experience in Cash for Work projects with GIZ
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Irrigation Network, Forestry, Environmental Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Knowledge of child protection / child rights
Computer literate mainly with MSOffice software package
Good communication skills and ability learn new methods in data management.
Demonstrable creative thinking and innovation skills
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies as needed.
Proficiency in relevant computer applications and software for data management and reporting.
Ability to work effectively in a team and independently in a dynamic environment.
