Job Title: Maintenance Technician FSR #736

Location: Azraq Camp 

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems throughout the hospital. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safe, reliable, and regulated environmental conditions in patient care areas, operating theaters, laboratories, and administrative spaces. The technician must adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including:
  • Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), exhaust fans, supply fans, split and package AC units, and chillers (under supervision).
  • Replace and service parts such as filters, belts, bearings, motors, pumps, valves, thermostats, and actuators.
  • Clean coils, ducts, condensate lines, and other components to ensure system efficiency.
  • Diagnose and correct mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools and testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges).
  • Maintain proper air quality, temperature, and humidity in critical environments, including:
  • Operating Rooms, Intensive Care Units (ICUs), isolation rooms (negative pressure), sterile supply, and pharmacy areas.
  • Calibrate systems to meet hospital SOPs and compliance standards.
  • Document all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities in logbooks; report critical issues immediately.
  • Support cross-functional maintenance efforts by assisting electrical, plumbing, and biomedical teams when needed.
  • Respond promptly to HVAC-related service requests and emergency breakdowns, particularly in critical care areas.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for urgent or after-hours maintenance support.
  • Follow hospital safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance protocols at all times.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • Diploma or ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Technology, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

Experience:

  • 2–5 years of HVAC maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare facility.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with HVAC (Air conditioning) systems, Generator running and maintenance follow up, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to read HVAC drawings and technical manuals.
  • Basic electrical knowledge related to HVAC.

Other Requirements:

  • Physically fit to work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and confined spaces.
  • Knowledge of PPE, lockout/tagout procedures, and refrigerant handling.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Microsoft office knowledge (Ward, Excel) and internet use.
