Job Description and Requirements

This is to announce that Amman delegation has a vacancy for an ICT Engineer at the ICT Department in Amman, Jordan.

The ICT Engineer is a senior technical expert who manages and organizes all ICT systems and services in her/his assigned location, designs and installs ICT information systems, provides second- and third-level user support, and has a geographical remit at the local, country, and/or regional level.

General duties

  • Be aware of the delegations’ objectives and activities.
  • Understand the three components of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement.
  • Always apply the security rules.
  • Respect and observe the staff regulations of the ICRC in Jordan.
  • The employee may be asked to perform other duties not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when and if necessary.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a part of global support services handles Level 2 tickets or escalates as per agreed workflow.
  • Ensures ICT inventory is updated regularly and maintains adequate stock levels.
  • Ensures existing ICT infrastructure is functional.
  • Ensures that global/country-level policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Briefs, advises, and trains end-users on the ICRC's ICT systems.
  • Drafts and updates technical documentation for all IT setups.
  • Lead ICT Team in project implementation.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support for end-users of desktop applications, telephones, printers, and computer hardware, set up and monitor computer and communication infrastructures (100%).
  • Allocates equipment in an efficient manner, considering users' needs and ICRC policies.
  • Keeps track of equipment allocations, dispatches equipment and follows up on shipments to and from other ICRC sites.
  • Keeps technical documentation up to date for all IT installations when relevant.
  • Comply with the ticketing system (Service Now) follow up and handle tickets aligning with the ICRC standards by respecting the KPI’s (Key Performance Indicator) and SLA’s. (Service Level Agreement).
  • Carries out independently large computer and telecommunication infrastructures projects according to ICRC standards.
  • Installs, maintains and adapts existing large ICT infrastructure and material independently.
  • Provide support at regional level about new and existing ICT infrastructure also for deployment phase in complex projects (such as SD-WAN, UC or servers infra deployments).
  • Carries out intermittent tests on ICT equipment, hardware and software networks and other devices in order to ensure their optimal performance and standard configuration.
  • Cyber Security focal point for Jordan operations.
  • Member of SysAdmin Field_L2 Group for NAME region.
  • Fill in for AMM ICT Manager during Absences (Holidays, Missions, etc.).
  • Provides technical support and training on ICT-related matters in the country or countries of assignment.
  • Monitors ICT installations and, in consultation with their manager/coordinator and hierarchical superiors, takes appropriate measures to guarantee that they function properly and that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Independently installs, maintains, uses and adapts existing large-scale infrastructure and material.
  • Tests ICT equipment, hardware and software networks and other devices in order to ensure optimal performance and standard configuration.
  • Maintain strong Knowledge and Skills in Telecommunications means (Such as VSAT, Terrestrial Connectivity lines, Tracking systems, etc.)
  • Lead Technical Projects Planning and Execution processes.
  • Lead Compliance Practices in relation to ICT workplace and Infrastructure setup.
  • Lead/Contribute to Digital Transformation Practices, explore potential opportunities and address them with their Coordinator/Manager.
  • Stay abreast with new technology methods and ensure a cross-functional knowledge mechanism among ICT department members.
  • Participates/ Contributes to recruiting and training ICT staff.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • ?Internally, interacts with delegation management and employees. Also interacts with Global Support levels 2 and 3.
  • Externally, interacts with local suppliers and with the ICT departments of other organizations.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelors’ degree (Computer Science, computer Engineer, or any other related field).
  • Good command (spoken and written) of Arabic and English. French is an asset.
  • 5 years' troubleshooting experience in an area of the ICT service catalogue (e.g. workplace services, telecommunications, IT, help desk, etc.).
  • Microsoft certification (MCSA level): Active Directory, GPO, DFS & groups management.
  • Networking Fundamentals - Wan/Lan management (VPN, VLAN’s, DNS services, IP addressing and Routing) –CCNA is considered an asset.
  • MS Teams environment.
  • Proven record of delivering results and understanding of customer service principles.
  • Microsoft Windows 10 & 11, Office 365 and associated Microsoft cloud services.
  • Knowledge of VSAT systems, microwave/radio links and wireless applications.
  • Solution/user oriented, ability to provide IT support services including IT hardware/infrastructure.
  • Analytical and Problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communications skills and teamworking spirit.
  • ICT management certification (ITIL).
  • Certification in project management an asset.
