Job Description and Requirements

The GIZ Jordan Project German Energy Academy (GEA) is seeking to hire a “Energy Advisor Focus Energy Transition Curricula Development based in Jordan- for full-time base employment.

The project will institutionalise the German Energy Academy (GEA) in Jordan as an independent, regionally valued and financially sustainable provider for training in energy transition. This is vital in light of the King´s announcement of a nationwide 50% renewable energy share by 2030, and the project will upskill skilled technicians in designing, building, operating and maintaining renewable energy and energy efficiency applications.

The project sets the institutional and financial frame for the GEA to act as a provider of practice-oriented and internationally certified qualifications for young people in Jordan and the region. GEA is already in operation and is actively collaborating with the private sector in Jordan and Germany.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) has appointed the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) to implement this project, in collaboration with the Al Hussein Technical University (HTU) and the German-Jordanian University (GJU). The project is set to run for three years.

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • BSc in Engineering (Energy etc), Business Development or related field.
  • At least 5 years of working in positions relevant for the energy transition – experience with working with MEMR or other consortium partners (HTU, GJU, ACI) is an advantage.
  • Relevant experience in multi-stakeholder management is an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of GIZ processes (including writing ToR, reports etc.).
  • Excellent communication and cooperation skills, outgoing, constructive, positive attitude
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of Arabic and English.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
  • Ability to cope with dynamic situation of cooperation system in development field
  • Team player/ability to cooperate with others.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Curricula Development of the German Energy Academy (GEA) relevant for the Energy Transition.
  • Support the advisory on the business development of the GEA.
  • Support the coordination with the political partner the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the partner consortium (2 universities: HTU, GJU, the Amman Chamber of Industry and 2 German partners)
  • Support project management including reporting tasks preparing minutes of meetings etc.
  • Support the coordination of international and national consultancies.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders including other training centres in Jordan and the region and other stakeholder still to be defined.
  • Prepare project documents, terms of reference, presentations, and outreach mate-rial including media materials as per the requirements of GIZ.
  • Support knowledge management and M&E for the project.

Location: Amman, with possibility of travelling as needed.
