Gender Justice Programme – Masarouna Project
Training of Trainers (TOT) on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for pharmacists Consultant
Background
Oxfam has been in Jordan since the 1990s. We work with local partners in Jordan for a future where everyone can reach their full potential, especially women and young people. We provide essential humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees as well as vulnerable Jordanians, while promoting longer term sustainable solutions to challenges facing Jordan, with a focus on Climate Justice, Economic Justice and Gender Justice.
Under the Gender Justice programme, Oxfam is part of a regional consortium implementing the Masarouna “Our pathway” programme. The Masarouna initiative follows two interlinked pathways to achieve lasting change: influencing decision makers and communities; and strengthening civic space. Both pathways are supported by a cross-cutting capacity strengthening approach, in partnership with a range of civil society actors. Global and regional partners facilitate access to funds and bring technical and thematic expertise. The project builds on Oxfam’s expertise in using a rights-based and gender responsive approach, with a strong focus on advocating for vulnerable women and young people in Jordan.
In 2024, under the “Wise Pharmacist Campaign”, which aimed to enhancing the role of pharmacists as key providers of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Through the campaign implementation, it was emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Pharmacists’ Syndicate to maximize impact and ensure sustainable engagement. Through these efforts, the initiative was seeking to advocate for the integration of pharmacists into the broader SRH services framework and raise awareness about their potential contributions to advancing public health.
Objective of the Consultancy
In Jordan, pharmacists often serve as the first point of contact for young people seeking information and services related to SRHR. However, gaps in knowledge, cultural barriers, and lack of training hinder their ability to provide youth-friendly, accurate, and non-judgmental support.
To address this, the Masarouna program in Jordan seeks to conduct targeted training for pharmacists to enhance their capacity in providing SRHR information and services that are youth-friendly, rights-based, and aligned with national laws and global standards.
The consultant will be responsible for facilitating, designing, and delivering a Training of Trainers (ToT) program for pharmacists in Jordan. The consultant will also develop comprehensive, culturally appropriate training materials to enhance pharmacists’ capacities to deliver accurate, non-judgmental, and youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services.
