 LWF Jordan is one of the 25 country programs managed by LWF World Service. This initiative has been operational in Jordan since 2013, serving the community for over a decade. Scope Of Work

The Senior Finance Officer is a key member of the Finance Department, responsible for leading and ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant execution of all financial processes and reporting. The role supports the Finance Manager and provides technical guidance across financial operations, including oversight of partner financial compliance, capacity building, and internal controls.

Finance Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions in line with LWF policies, donor regulations, and international accounting standards.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly financial reports, maintain proper documentation, and support audit readiness.
  • Support the Finance Manager in developing and finalizing monthly and donor-specific financial reports, as well as updating financial reporting templates.
  • Monitor organizational cash flow, budget execution, and expenditure tracking; support in the preparation and revision of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Conduct financial verifications, compliance reviews, and audits of partner financial reports and supporting documentation.
  • Lead financial capacity-building initiatives and provide training to local partners to ensure compliance with LWF and donor financial procedures.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations, financial statements, and donor-specific financial reports.
  • Oversee the review of partner expenditure forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager on sub-award reconciliations, partner disbursements, and payment processing.
  • Verify supporting documentation for expenditures and ensure that all vouchers are properly approved and recorded.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank and cash accounts, review bank balances regularly, and provide updated cash flow reports.
  • Ensure accurate journal entries and timely updates of exchange rates in the accounting system (SAGE).
  • Supervise the electronic and physical filing systems for all financial records and documents.
  • Oversee reconciliation of accrued expenses, intercompany accounts, and staff advances.
  • Ensure that all accounting transactions are accurately entered into SAGE on a daily basis and that system backups are performed regularly.
  • Conduct financial field monitoring visits to ensure proper financial management and compliance among implementing partners.
  • Support both internal and external audits and coordinate monthly BVA (Budget vs Actual) reviews and related financial reporting.
  • Act as the primary backup for the Finance Manager during periods of absence.
  • Lead or assist in pre-award assessments, sub-grant management, and financial compliance monitoring for partner organizations.
  • Facilitate training workshops for partners on financial management systems and compliance with LWF policies.
  • Perform any additional finance-related tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Professional Standards:

The LWF and LWF workers must adhere to the values and principles outlined in the Code of Conduct as well as the Core Humanitarian Standard and relevant LWF policies such as Protection from Sexual Abuse, Exploitation and Harassment (PSEAH), Child Protection and Gender Justice Policy. The staff member must conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to the LWF and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.

Work Experience:

  • BA in Finance/accounting or equivalent subject.
  • At least 7 years of work experience in a Finance, Accounting of which 4 years with an INGO or LNGO with best practices Supporting Syria.
  • High level of written and spoken English.
  • Familiarity with financial software (SAGE or any other financial systems.)  
  • Proficiency in understanding of cash management, budget tracking, and compliance.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook  
  • Competent with administrative tasks.
