Job Description and Requirements
The GIZ Jordan Project " Green Action in Enterprises (GAIN) ” is seeking to hire a  “Private Sector Development Advisor – Focus: Green Policy” for full-time base employment. 
 
The project “Green Action in Enterprises” (GAIN) was commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Its main objective is that “public and private actors use instruments to promote a Green Economy”. To achieve this goal, GAIN implements activities contributing five outputs: from working with private sector representatives, intermediaries and various service providers to improve framework conditions.
Output 5, the output of main concern for this position, aims to strengthen the ecosystem of green and circular business models in Jordan through providing technical support to existing green businesses with focus on SMEs to develop new concepts of green products and services and/or scaling up existing ones. This will be implemented through enhancing access to finance and support from business development organizations including chambers, associations, incubators and universities. Within the scope of Output 5 activities, providing professional advisory services mainly to private sector institutions and intermediaries to support in the implementation of the output objectives
 
 Qualifications and Specialist Knowledge
  • University degree in Political Science, Economics, International Development, Engineering or other relevant discipline.  
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in a relevant field; e.g. consulting or advocacy in (green) private sector development and/or green policy and/or international development cooperation
  • Good understanding of Jordanian stakeholder landscape in green economy; 
  • Proven work experience with political agencies and/or good knowledge of global coordination processes and international actors in the field of (green) economic development
  • Ideally, proven experience in contracting and managing consultancy contracts/grant agreements 
  • Proven experience in organisation of workshops, events and capacity development programmes; 
  • Highly motivated, reliable and positive team player with a sense of initiative and ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines with excellent conceptual and analytical skills
  • Strong diplomatic skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic
Main Responsibilities 
  • Responsible for the implementation of green economy project activities with public sector actors, predominantly with the Ministry of Environment as political partner, as well as the Ministry of Industry Trade and Supply, with the goal to support Economic Modernization Vision and Industrial Policy 2023-25
  • Responsible for project management tasks, such as conceptualising potential project activities, monitoring ongoing consultancy contracts 
  • Ensuring proper monitoring and reporting of results and outcomes and supporting the development of information and communications products.   
  • Direct responsibility towards partners, building and maintaining professional networks with relevant public and governmental organizations, as well as GIZ and other donor-funded projects.   
  • Building synergies within the project to further strengthen policy impact on implementation of other activities 
  • Performing other relevant tasks and duties as requested by management.       
  • Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description.
  • Upon request from partners, contribute to the review and assessment of draft policy documents developed by the partners in green economy sectors.
