USAID Informal Livelihoods Advancement Activity (Iqlaa) is a five-year USAID-funded program that aims to put Jordan’s home-based businesses (HBBs) and Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) on a path to recovery, help them access the safety net measures in Jordan, and, most importantly, regain productivity and growth.

Mercy Corps approach to Iqlaa integrates direct assistance with market systems development (MSD) interventions to support MSEs along the full journey from recovery to growth and resilience. Grounded in evidence-based, adaptive, and inclusive support, Jordan’s MSEs can emerge stronger and more resilient, transformed through new ways of doing business and improved access to finance, markets, and services. The program encourages and supports the participation of all MSE-owner segments.

The Position (General Position Summary)

The Mentorship Assistant will support the delivery of all operational, logistical, and administrative activities required for the successful implementation of the mentorship component under the Iqlaa program. Working closely with the Mentorship Coordinator and Mentorship Lead, the Assistant will manage data entry, organize events and sessions, maintain intervention documentation, and assist in day-to-day implementation across the different implementation sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized early-career professional who is passionate about supporting small businesses and gaining hands-on experience in project implementation.

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

Coordination

• Lead day-to-day implementation of the mentorship intervention and coordinate across the intervention by managing and documenting communication with the partners, mentees, and mentors.

• Support the identification and onboarding of mentorship partners through application management and communication coordination.

• Assist in co-designing mentorship processes by supporting the documentation and participating in the design process.

• Coordinate logistics and execution of mentorship sessions, both virtual and in-person.

• Monitor timelines and deliverables across mentorship pilots, and report any variations to the project team.

 

Implementation Support

• Support the planning and execution of mentorship sessions (online and in-person), including preparation of materials, logistics, and follow-up with participants.

• Coordinate schedules, communications, and logistics for workshops, meetings, and field visits.

• Assist with the onboarding of mentors and mentees, ensuring accurate records and profiles are maintained.

• Help ensure that the timeline and calendar are up to date and shared with relevant stakeholders.

 

Data collection and documentation

• Assist in collecting and entering data for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities, including pre/post session forms, feedback surveys, and attendance sheets.

• Maintain accurate filing and documentation of activities and participant records.

• Provide regular updates to the Mentorship Coordinator on activity implementation status and flag any operational issues.

 

Administrative and logistical support

• Prepare meeting agendas, take meeting minutes, and support follow-up communication with partners and stakeholders.

• Liaise with procurement and finance teams to support field activity purchases and disbursements.

• Support the outreach efforts for recruiting mentors and MSE participants through follow-up calls, emails, and field support.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

None.

 

Accountability

Reports Directly To: Mentorship Team Lead– Iqlaa

Works Directly With: Mentorship Senior Coordinator, MEL Team, Program Quality and Learning (PQL), Selected Partner(s), Technical Leads, Communications, and Admin staff.

 

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. Minimum Qualification & Transferable Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field (final year students or recent graduates encouraged to apply).

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

• Fluency in Arabic and basic proficiency in English.

• Excellent coordination skills and ability to manage engagements with different stakeholders across different geographical locations.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The position is based in Amman and it requires up to 40% travel to support country programs. Mercy Corps team members represent the agency both during and outside work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting. Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and MC's policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all in-country venues.
