“The Near East Foundation (NEF) Regional/Siraj Financial Services (SFS) are recruiting a Marketing Senior Officer to be based in Amman, Jordan. This position will initially be under an NEF contract, seconded to SFS. Once SFS’s registration in Jordan is finalized, the candidate will transition to an SFS contract”. For over 100 years, the Near East Foundation has worked to build more sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive communities in the Middle East, Caucasus, and Africa through education, governance, and economic development initiatives. Working through a network of country offices and local partners, NEF has operations in ten countries: Armenia, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Mali, Morocco, Palestine, Sudan, South Sudan, and Syria. Its programs are organized around three themes: Inclusive Economic Development, Climate-resilient Development, and Stabilization and Peacebuilding.

SFS Background

Siraj Financial Services (SFS), registered in Belgium with a regional office in Amman, is committed to driving sustainable economic growth in Northern Syria by empowering local entrepreneurs. Building on NEF's successful revolving credit fund pilot, which provided small loans to entrepreneurs in Ar-Raqqa, Deir Ez-Zor, and Al-Hasakeh, SFS is advancing this initiative by commercializing the model and expanding its reach. Targeting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), we offer micro-loans and development loans alongside non-financial services such as business development training, coaching, and market facilitation. Our focus is on supporting women, youth, and vulnerable groups, prioritizing high-value sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, services, and trade to ensure their active participation in the region's economic development. 

 

Position Description

The Senior Marketing Officer at Siraj Financial Services (SFS) plays a critical role in shaping and implementing the organization's marketing strategies to enhance visibility, drive awareness, and support SFS’s mission of empowering entrepreneurs. This position involves developing strategic marketing plans, managing promotional activities, coordinating events, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. The role requires a creative and analytical mindset, a deep understanding of the microfinance sector, and the ability to lead marketing initiatives that align with SFS’s goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic marketing goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Create and manage marketing plans and programs to achieve strategic goals effectively.
  • Conduct market research to collect and analyze industry insights, monitor competitor activities, and evaluate market reactions to campaigns and policies.
  • Manage all aspects of the company’s advertising and promotional materials, ensuring alignment with the brand and organizational values.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the company’s website and magazine, ensuring they remain up-to-date and engaging.
  • Plan, prepare, and supervise media and marketing activities, including events, conferences, and campaigns, in collaboration with relevant departments and external partners.
  • Coordinate the design and publication of advertising materials, media content, and other promotional assets, ensuring consistency and quality.
  • Develop and evaluate advertising programs, determining the timing, channels, and effectiveness of campaigns.
  • Organize awareness campaigns to engage target groups and promote SFS’s services and mission.
  • Handle the registration and management of new trademarks, including logos and trade names.
  • Prepare and organize the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and cooperation agreements with external entities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Department to coordinate training courses for external stakeholders at local, regional, or international levels.
  • Undertake additional tasks assigned by the CEO, ensuring alignment with the role’s responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements:

·       At least 5-7 years of experience in Marketing or a related field, ideally within financial services or development-focused organizations.

·       Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with efficiency and clarity.

·       Proficiency in using relevant computer programs, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.

·       Strong communication skills in both spoken and written Arabic and English.

·       Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and maintain performance under pressure.

·       High attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring the quality and reliability of HR operations.

·       Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required; additional certifications or training in Marketing or related areas is an advantage.
