Job Title:​         Liaison and Partnership Support

Reporting to:  Partnership and Liaison Manager as a Line Manager

Duty Station:  Amman with frequent travel to field offices

 

ABOUT INTERSOS:

INTERSOS is an International NGO that assists the victims of natural disasters, armed conflicts and exclusion. Its activities are based on the principles of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equality of rights and opportunities, respect for diversity and coexistence, paying special attention to the most vulnerable people.

We provide primary assistance in terms of food, shelter, medical assistance and basic goods, while also ensuring that basic needs, education, safe water and health needs are met during the recovery phase.

Since 2012, INTERSOS has had operations in the Middle East to contribute towards ensuring emergency relief and social protection assistance for Syrian refugees fleeing their home in search of safety, with special focus on most vulnerable groups (children, women, elderly and persons with special needs).

In Jordan, INTERSOS has focused its humanitarian response on supporting Syrian families displaced across urban and rural areas, as well as vulnerable host communities, with a programme that concentrates on protection.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Based in Amman with regular travel to the project  areas, the Liaison and Partnership Support will provide support to the INTERSOS mission in the identification and development of quality partnership with local actors and for maintaining strong links and communication with the relevant actors and stakeholders that are necessary to ensure the smooth running of INTERSOS operations in the area of responsibility

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Local Authorities Liaison

  • Support in maintaining excellent relations with different parties, actors and stakeholder and communities, while refraining from any type of side-taking or political activism;
  • Supports in obtaining, timely and smoothly authorizations, permits and approvals for implementation for projects, project activities and team movements;
  • Translates, deposes, follows and obtains legal administrative documents related to the implementation of programs in collaboration with the different technical departments
  • Support in the timely report submission to relevant authorities: yearly, mid-yearly and possibly ad hoc reports requested;
  • Organizes meetings with different stakeholders upon request; collecting/preparing talking points and report on outcomes of meetings;

Partnership

  • Il collaboration with the Field Managers, support mapping of local actors in given areas/sectors, maintaining a partnership database that maps out partner capacity, influence, and strategic alignment;
  • Supporting the pre-selection of local partners and the collection of relevant information, organization of meetings with relevant stakeholders a
  • Support the assessment of pre-selected actors and the analysis of the assessment results
  • Support the the vetting process, organizing community meetings and reference checks and counter-terrorism checks;
  • Facilitating the development and signing of partnership agreements and MoUs, at strategic and grant-based level;
  • Leading the development of bilateral capacity strengthening plans;
  • Support the planning and implementation of capacity strengthening activities for local partners;
  • Support communication with identified partners.
  • Support the internal reporting on localization/partnership activities
  • Engage in work outside of the core job description as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • University degree in Law, Social Sciences, Administration, or related field.

Professional experience

  • 1 year of basic work experience in a humanitarian sector and/or in public institutions and proven experience liaising with government authorities

Professional requirements

  • Basic knowledge of the structure and procedures of international NGOs.
  • Previous experience with international NGOs and/or local NGOs.
  • Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
  • Demonstrated practical experience in liaison, communication with local actors
