GENERAL FUNCTION

The Human Resources Manager is responsible to provide seamless support with all HR functions (Recruitment, Compensation, Performance, Employee Relations) in Amman office and ensure local HR policies and practices are in line with local labor laws, Internews policies, and industry standards. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below; other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining local HR policies and procedures, including Sawt employee handbook.
  • Oversees all recruitment in the Amman office for the Sawt project including working with HQ hiring team and local advertising agencies and ensuring fair and equitable hiring practices are in place and followed.
  • Advise and support the hiring panel in candidates’ selection by providing fair, objective and critical analysis following interview process.
  • Coordinate closely with MENA management for ongoing recruitment of regional support and consultants.
  • Ensures employees records are set up and maintained in ERP and administers confidential local personnel records.
  • Manage employee health benefits plans with the local provider and be the focal point for any questions related to the medical policy
  • Work closely with local legal counsel to ensure compliance with local labor law requirements.
  • Coordinate orientation for all newly hired staff and ensure they are properly onboarded on a timely manner and fully understand all HR policies and best practices.
  • Support and advise management to resolve conflicts and employee relation issues and together with relevant managers, establish performance improvement plans when needed.
  • Manage performance appraisal process, including providing staff with all resources and tools from the HQ office and adapting materials to the local context as needed.
  • Collect relevant information pertaining to salary and benefits data in the country.
  • Conduct annual ethics policy administration in accordance with Internews policy.
  • Conduct Exit Interview with departing staff to identify gaps and advise on how to improve internal processes accordingly.
  • Monitors and tracks leave and holiday allowances.
  • Review staff timesheets to ensure that leave variables are properly coded in ERP.
  • Work closely with the Amman office Finance Manager to approve and process monthly payroll.
  • Uphold the highest sense of confidentiality and manner at all times.
  • Any other related duties assigned by the supervisor to ensure program success.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated to practical knowledge related to human resources management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Jordan labor law.

Skills

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Must be highly computer literate; Microsoft word and Excel required.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in English and good command of Arabic required.
  • Ability and permission to work and reside in Jordan is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience working for an international nonprofit or in the international development sector.
