Job Description and Requirements

About CARE Jordan

CARE International established a presence in Jordan in 1948, in response to the Palestinian refugee crisis. For nearly eight decades, CARE has supported refugees and host communities.

CARE's work follows a strong nexus approach that connects humanitarian assistance, resilience, and longer-term development. This includes a sustained humanitarian program in Azraq camp and community-led initiatives that strengthen protection, economic empowerment, and social cohesion. CARE places localization at the center of its model, partnering with community-based organizations and refugee-led structures to design and deliver programs that are inclusive, accountable, and rooted in local leadership. CARE seeks a world of hope, tolerance, and social justice, where poverty is overcome and all people live with dignity and security.

In Jordan, CARE is recognized for its commitment to humanitarian protection and empowerment, particularly for women and girls, ensuring their rights are upheld and human potential is realized. CARE leads interventions in humanitarian protection, economic empowerment, and civic engagement, focusing on the fight against poverty, gender-based violence, and social injustice.

CARE values equality, integrity, transformation, excellence, inclusion, and respect for human dignity. We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people, and adults. All appointments are subject to safeguarding screening, and recruitment decisions are based on qualifications, experience, and job-related competencies.

The Finance & Operations Assistant provides hands-on operational support to CARE Jordan's procurement, administration, and finance functions, ensuring that day-to-day operations are delivered in a timely, well-documented, and compliant manner. Approximately 65% of the role is dedicated to procurement, administrative, and asset support: processing purchase requisitions, obtaining and comparing quotations, preparing procurement documentation, supporting logistics and office operations, and maintaining asset and supplier records. The remaining 35% supports the finance function through checking payment documentation, preparing payment vouchers, supporting petty cash and reconciliations, and filing.

Working under the Finance & Operations Manager and alongside the procurement, admin, and finance teams, the Finance & Operations Assistant helps ensure that goods and services are sourced and paid for in full compliance with CARE and donor policies, and that records are complete and audit-ready.

  • Conduct basic market research and price benchmarking to support value-for-money purchasing.
  • Follow up with suppliers on order confirmation, delivery timelines, specifications, and quality.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date procurement records, files, and the supplier/vendor database to ensure accountability, transparency, and audit readiness.

Administrative & Logistics Support (20%)

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and logistics support across CARE Jordan premises and offices.
  • Support travel and accommodation arrangements, including flight bookings, hotel reservations, and vehicle transportation.
  • Assist with the planning and logistics of meetings, workshops, trainings, and organizational events.
  • Serve as a point of contact for routine administrative and logistical requests from staff and visitors.
  • Support the monitoring of utilities, mobile phone usage, and service contracts, flagging unusual trends or overspending to the supervisor.
  • Assist in maintaining office facilities, premises, and related service arrangements.

Asset, Store & Facilities Support (10%)

  • Maintain accurate asset inventory records and support periodic asset verification and tagging across offices and camps.
  • Support store and inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of office supplies, stationery, and essential materials.
  • Record and track the issuance and movement of supplies and assets.
  • Conduct periodic physical counts of inventory and fixed assets, and reconcile results against inventory records and the fixed asset register.

  • Prepare payment vouchers, disbursement documentation, and bank transfer requests for review.
  • Support the processing of staff and vendor payments, travel expense reports (TERs), and advance settlements.
  • Follow up with staff, vendors, and procurement on completeness of supporting documents and outstanding settlements.
  • Support accurate and timely data entry of transactions into the financial system.

  • Support petty cash and prepaid card management, including disbursement, replenishment, and reconciliation.
  • Assist in reviewing cash receipts and bank deposit slips and in tracking pending balances.
  • Support the monitoring and follow-up of sub-ledger balances and ageing advances.
  • Assist with day-to-day filing and scanning of finance documents (AP, AR, GL), and support internal and external audits by organizing and retrieving documentation.
