Projects Coordinator   

Based in Amman, Jordan (National Contract)  

 

Job Title: Projects Coordinator 

Job Type: Fulltime  

Location: Multilocation (position exists and is based in Jordan) 

Role overview: The Projects Coordinator holds a crucial role in efficiently coordinating various work streams across multiple countries and partners, ensuring alignment with our programme ambitions and maintaining high-quality standards within tight deadlines. This position is an integral part of the Education and Protection teams and reports directly to the Program Manager 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Projects development, Implementation and Training (40%) 

  • Prepare, update and implement project work plans and review progress on a monthly basis with input from partner(s) and all members of the project team, and with oversight of the Programme Manager ensuring alignment with global objectives and scaling strategy 

  • Work with the Program Manager to oversee management of grants including the timely implementation of planned activities and appropriate spending of funds. 

 

  • Work closely with local partners to ensure implementation is on track and spending is going according to plan  

  • Prepare regular reports on budgets and expenditures in collaboration with Finance Team to track spending, monitor the BFU and take corrective action if necessary. 

  • Representing War Child, building and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with a range of stakeholders including the supported communities, Government, NGO/ CBO, donors, vendors and partners.  

  • Act as in-country focal point for the project responding to any necessary requests under the guidance of the programme manager.  

  • Facilitate visits to the project sites by donor representatives, auditors, country office or any visitors. 

 

  • Ensure alignment and synergy between the education Programme, Protection Program and MHPSS programme 

  • Identify needs and design capacity-building plans for partners and project staff particularly around adherence to child protection policies.  

  •  

Quality Assurance, Coordination and Learning (30%) 

  • Establish and manage a Community of Practice to facilitate sharing and learning for scaling Can't Wait to Learn and Be There initiatives 

  • Foster sharing and learning from programme experience within War Child and the Protection, the education-in emergencies sector more generally, through written articles, contribution to conferences and events, and by initiating learning events. 

  • Provide guidance, support, and advice to program-related activities, including fundraising and research activities. 

  • Act as a primary point of contact and support for trainings to partners directly involved in implementing global projects. 

  • Provide valuable input on partner assessments and agreements to uphold programme quality and standards. 

  •  

Communication and Relationship Management (30%) 

  • Ensure submission of transparent, high quality and timely financial, narrative, and face-to-face progress reports which are relevant to internal and external stakeholders and meet WCH and donor quality standards. 

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance partnerships with key stakeholders: the Ministry of Education, The Ministry of Social Development, donors, implementing partners and other stakeholders (internal and external), ensuring fruitful collaboration to meet the expectations of the programme, and build a sound basis for future collaboration. Build and maintain strong relationships with WC countries and scaling partners. 

  • Support in identifying the new partners and in the rollout and effective implementation of the programme. 

  • Participate in relevant working groups and events to increase exposure of our Education and Protection progremmes, ensuring knowledge sharing and effective two-way learning. 

  • Ensure that all visibility requirements of War Child, donors, and partners are integrated and met.

Your Profile 

  • Academic background in Development/International Cooperation and/or Humanitarian Aid or equivalent. 

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar position in an international organisation - demonstrated experience in Projects Coordination or Programme Management related to Education and\or protection.  

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current developments and trends in the (international) aid sector. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic. 

  • Strong relation-building skills, diplomacy and confident building and maintaining networks. 

  • Excellent facilitation, training and organisational skills. 

  • Ability to work under pressure, organised to meet deadlines whilst maintaining an eye for detail. 

  • Result-oriented and determined. 

  • Willing and able to travel to War Child programming areas, as required. 

  • This position will be based in Jordan.
