Job Description and Requirements

The GIZ Jordan Project The Jordanian German Energy Partnership is seeking to hire a “Project Assistant – Focus: Energy Partnership” based in Jordan- for full-time base employment.

To promote cooperation between Germany and Jordan in the field of renewable energies, the German Energy Agency (dena) has set up a local secretariat based in the Ministry of Energy (MEMR). The Secretariat ensures direct communication between dena and MEMR and represents dena in Jordan.

The most important tasks of the Secretariat are the stakeholder management of public and private actors, the organisation of events in Jordan and the monitoring and reporting of energy policy developments in the country. It operates in close coordination with dena in Berlin and is integrated into GIZ's Water & Energy Cluster in Jordan.

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • University degree in a related field
  • Business fluency in English and Arabic
  • Minimum of 1 year of Energy expertise, Communication and/or Business Development experience in energy related areas.
  • Excellent communication skills, outgoing, constructive, positive attitude
  • Experience in the energy sector is a plus
  • Good working knowledge of ITC technologies such as all standard applications MS Office and social media applications
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the communication and event management activities of the secretariat of the Jordanian German Energy Partnership (EP) with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) and the German Energy Agency “Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena)”.
  • Support the knowledge-management, the monitoring, and reporting to the commissioning party and within GIZ Jordan to the Water & Energy Cluster
  • Support with the collection of information as requested by the commissioning party and the partners in accordance with the team and your manager
  • Support the exchange of EP advisor and the line manager with the political partner, with other stakeholders and coordinate with the Water & Energy Cluster within GIZ, if necessary

Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description
