Job Description and Requirements

This is to announce that Amman delegation has a vacancy for a Maintenance Team Leader at the Premises Work Unit in Amman, Jordan.

  • The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and executing maintenance activities across ICRC residences, office buildings, warehouse, and workshop. The role ensures all facilities are operational, secure, and well-maintained while adhering to organizational standards and procedures.
  • The Premises Maintenance Officer will assist the Maintenance Supervisor in managing the maintenance unit.
  • Performs administrative activities on computer and works independently.
  • Authorize to carry out purchases according to the ICRC financial rules and delegation regulations.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internally, interacts with other ICRC employees and users of ICRC premises.
  • Externally, interacts with municipal authorities, landlords, suppliers, service providers, residences landlords.

General Functions

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times.
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times.
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and the Head of Unit.
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintenance Operations
  • Handle and follow up on maintenance requests for ICRC residences, office buildings, warehouses, and workshops, reporting daily to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Oversee the setup of new residences/offices, including installing smoke detectors, applying 3M film, setting up lighting, plumbing, heating systems, painting, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with security requirements in all apartments by implementing recommendations from the Security Officer (e.g., smoke detectors, fire extinguisher refilling, 3M films).
  • Monitor and control the refueling system in all ICRC apartments/offices, keeping accurate readings and records.
  • Respond promptly to emergency or urgent maintenance requests, including during weekends and holidays.
  • Track the implementation of energy, water, and fuel-saving programs, including electro-mechanical works.

 

  • Inspections and Monitoring
  • Conduct daily checks of office buildings to ensure functionality, safety, and cleanliness, including gates, perimeter, safety systems, ACs, heating systems, and meeting rooms. Report maintenance issues to the Maintenance Department.
  • Follow up on utilities (electricity, water, internet, and landline bills) for both offices and residences on a monthly basis.
  • Set up offices for new staff members and address staff complaints related to the functionality of office spaces.
  • Supervision and Coordination
  • Organize and supervise the annual cleaning and maintenance of boilers, ensuring availability of spare parts and materials.
  • Distribute working advances among maintenance team members and monitor expenditures.
  • Supervise and manage the maintenance inventory store, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Oversee renovation and repair works in residences and offices to ensure timely handover to owners.
  • Prepare and distribute daily/weekly schedules for the maintenance team.
  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor in evaluating team performance prior the PMD.
  • Procurement and Documentation
  • Coordinate with suppliers and external stakeholders to procure necessary materials and supplies.
  • Order and purchases and necessary materials and supplies, in coordination with the logistics department and maintain stock and monitor the maintenance expenses.
  • Maintain organized filing and archiving systems for all maintenance-related documentation.
  • Leadership and Support
  • Act as a backup for the Maintenance Supervisor during absences, coordinating directly with the Head of Premises/Deputy Head of Premises for maintenance-related issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to maintenance team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist the premises team with other tasks as requested.

 

  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERINCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
 
  • Certifications / Education in related field.
  • Technical school or equivalent.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
  • Good computer skills specially Excel.
 
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar position.
  • Technical skills in related field.
