Background:

The Public Financial Management Activity (PFMA) aims to work in partnership with USAID/Jordan and the Government of Jordan (GOJ) to improve Jordan’s revenue system and enhance their budget management process. PFMA will build the capacity of the Jordanian Ministry of Finance and other government institutions to modernize the revenue collection system, encourage compliance—including making it easier for taxpayers to comply with tax obligations—upgrade public procurement management, and improve budget planning, preparation, and execution. Key objectives include: 1) improving the revenue raising system; 2) streamlining the budget management process; 3) optimizing public expenditure management; and 4) implementing crosscutting Public Financial Management reforms such as interventions to address COVID-19. Through a combination of technical assistance, capacity building, and facilitation, tangible and measurable results are expected during the anticipated five-year duration of the activity.

Objectives:

We are looking for a software development intern to join our team Up to 3 months with possibility to extend based on performance. The internship requires 40 hours of on-site work per week.

The ideal candidate will have base-level knowledge in Oracle and Java. This internship provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience with current software development techniques. The intern will work with our team to design, develop, and test software applications for our project.

The software Development Intern shall assist and work with the Development and Advisory Services as required.

Responsibilities:

The software development intern will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Assist our team with accomplishing tasks related to the development, deployment of new applications that streamlines the targeted processes.
  • Test software applications for efficiency and note any bugs
  • Document application development processes
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Develop progress reports
  • Assist and work with the Development and Advisory Services as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer science or any related field
  • Experience working with international NGOs or donors or with USAID-funded projects (preferred).
  • Entry-level experience with Oracle, Java
  • Familiar with software development
  • Verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize competing demands. Detailed and deadline oriented.
  • Possesses diplomacy, tact, and negotiating skills. Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Flexible under pressure and in response to changing needs.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Fluent in Arabic and English.
