Job Description and Requirements

This is to announce that Amman delegation has a vacancy for an Analysis & Evidence Specialist at the Protection Department in Amman, Jordan.

The A&E Specialist 1 supports the Senior A&E Specialist 2 in delivering data-driven analysis to inform and advance the search for missing persons in Syria. The role focuses on analyzing internal data—particularly from Prot6—and integrating it with external and open-source datasets to identify relevant sub-caseloads. The Specialist contributes to data extraction, cleaning, filtering, and visualization, supports the assessment of external sources, and develops tools such as dashboards and SQL queries to facilitate more targeted and efficient follow-up. The A&E Specialist 1 works in close collaboration with the Caseload Revision and Analysis (CRA) function to support the identification and prioritization of actionable cases.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the senior A&E Specialist 2, the Analysis & Evidence Specialist 1:

  • Supports the Senior A&E Analyst 2 in delivering analysis aligned with operational priorities set by the Syria Protection Management, with a focus on specific Missing sub-caseloads.
  • Conducts data extraction, cleaning, manipulation, and visualization of large and diverse datasets (text, GIS/maps, videos, photos, etc.) to support quantitative analysis of the Syria Missing caseload.
  • Produces dashboards and analytical reports to support the identification and analysis of sub-caseloads (e.g., by location, timeframe, or alleged perpetrator).
  • Supports the OSI Analyst in evaluating and mapping external and open-source data (e.g., ACLED, INSO), including API-based extractions, for relevance to the SY MIS caseload.
  • Requests and filters ProtData (Prot 6) extractions based on criteria defined by the Search Team and contributes to improving data entry procedures to facilitate case review and analysis.
  • Develops and documents SQL queries for large-scale and automated extraction from internal databases.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • University degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Information Analysis, Intelligence Analysis, Software Development, GIS, or another analytical/quantitative field. Candidates with a background in Social Sciences, Criminology, IHL/IHR, or equivalent law enforcement-certified education may also be considered.
  • Very good command of English and Arabic.
  • Experience in qualitative and statistical analysis, coding languages, and mapping software such as NVivo, SPSS, STATA, R, SQL, Python, and ArcGIS.
  • Strong analytical skills; familiarity with open-source research; and ability to work with and visualize large data sets.
  • Typically, 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, needs assessments, monitoring & evaluation, situation and problem analysis, operational information management, results-based management, humanitarian analysis, or a closely related area.
  • Humanitarian experience with the ICRC, Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement, UN agencies, or NGOs.
  • Proven field experience supporting surveys and multiple assessments in-country, including design, data collection, and analysis.
  • Ideally, previous experience with the ICRC, in Protection, and/or in PFL, including experience with Prot6 data management and analysis.
  • Experience in analysing, interpreting, and presenting information to support decision-making.
