Position:  Information management Officer

Location:  Amman

Reports to: Information management Manager 

 

Summary:  Your role would be to support Medair’s information management processes at the regional level – on one hand, you’d have a very data-and-computer-oriented position, and on the other hand you’d be called on to deliver trainings to get others involved in information management.  On a day-to-day basis you would be involved in a wide variety of activities involving computer programming, database management, server maintenance, report creation, monitoring and evaluation, and internal/external training on information management.

Data Collection

 

  • Developing and updating ODK forms
  • Keeping ODK training material up to date
  • Develop organizational capacity for multimedia and information alerting usage

Server Maintenance, Data Protection, and Database Management

  • Developing and maintaining a master database
  • Be responsible for data accuracy and ensure that the tools are designed with data quality in mind.
  • Implementing beneficiary data protection protocols and tools
  • Manage user accounts through centralized servers.
  • Cross check data collected from the field, ensure regular updates of databases, and solve eventual discrepancies.
  • Be responsible for the archiving and backup of programme information.
  • Assist in the implementation of standardized information management policies, data systems and information products

Computer Programming & Technology Development

  • Contribute to database programming.
  • Contribute to mobile app programming.
  • Test, evaluate, and implement new technologies as necessary.
  • Design, build and maintain integrations between different IM system

Data Analysis, Visualization, and Reporting

  •  Use Qlik sense, ODK and other relevant software to provide IM services in the form of electronic data collection forms, databases, and interactive dashboards.
  • Using GIS or other relevant software to produce information visuals and maps.
  • Produce automated database reports.
  • Contribute information visuals to internal and external reporting.
  • Ensure that the results are shared with the people concerned (dashboard, maps) 

Communication & Training

  •  Create training material based on capacity needs assessments conducted.
  • Contribute to conducting IM Capacity building trainings to relevant staff.
  • Carry out internal and external trainings on information management for humanitarian programmes.

Quality Management

  • Follow appropriate IM standards and integrate lessons learned into the projects.
  • Diagnose hardware and software faults and solve technical and applications problems

University degree in relevant subject or equivalent professional / technical qualification

University degree in Computer Programming, Database Management, Systems & Computing

Work experience

  • Relevant professional experience working with information management using large and complex databases (3 yrs.)
  • Experience using data for reporting purposes.
  • Previous NGO experience (2+ yrs.)
  • Experience with data analysis packages (eg, Qlik, powerBI)

Experience in use of tablets &smartphones and associated software

Languages

  • Intermediate English (spoken and written)
  • Excellent Arabic (spoken and written)
  • Willingness to improve language skills, spoken and written

IT

  • Strong computer skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong knowledge of XLS form development and the use of CommCare, ONA, ODK and/or other mobile data collection platforms.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Access

Problem solving ability.

  • Aptitude, willingness, and ability to learn programming, data analysis and data management packages that are not familiar.
  • Intermediate computer programming skills
  • Experience of IT troubleshooting
  • Advanced computer programming skills
  • Advanced database management (i.e., SQL, Qlik, Oracle, etc)
