Job Description:
JOB PURPOSE
The WASH Junior Engineer will manage incentive-based volunteers, ensuring their alignment with project goals through effective coordination, technical support, and quality assurance. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers, providing hands-on technical guidance, and conducting site checks to maintain safety and technical standards. The WASH Junior Engineer is also responsible for the construction of private latrines in Azraq Camp, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, hygiene standards, and community needs. This role is essential for optimizing volunteer engagement, enhancing project efficiency, and supporting the overall success of project initiatives.
MAJOR RESPONCIBILITIES
Supervise and monitor the IBV’S to carry out construction interventions in accordance with the work plans, regulations, IBV’s SOPs, design, specifications, and the highest standards of work.
Review and design drawings, specifications, and BOQ for all project interventions and being knowledgeable about surveying work.
Data collection and support in MEAL activities.
Collaborates with WASH senior engineer to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or health of employees.
Assessment of the quality of the used materials according to defined standards.
Other tasks as assigned by the project coordinator or the project manager.
Required Professional Experience
2 or more years of full-time technical or professional experience in emergency projects.
Experience in supervising and dealing with 30+ workers.
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
A diploma or bachelor’s degree in any related field (civil engineering or Water and Environmental Engineering is advantage), with demonstrated experience in the implementation of emergency projects.
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
Proven experience in the implementation and construction of latrines, steel structures, and concrete structures, with a strong understanding of technical details and site execution.
Sound knowledge of MS Office software use epically word, excel and outlook as well as Auto CAD, REVIT.
Excellent reporting skills.
A good team player but also willing to work on own initiative.
Location – the individual will need to be on-site (Al-Azraq Camp) in Azraq throughout the life of the project
