JOB SUMMARY
Providing full antenatal care, including parenting classes, clinical examinations and screenings. Identifying high-risk pregnancies. Monitoring women and assisting them through the labor and birthing process. Teaching new parents how best to provide care for newborns.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1-examining and monitoring pregnant women
2-assessing care requirements and writing care plans
3-undertaking antenatal care in hospitals, homes and general practitioner (GP) practices
4-carrying out screening tests
5-providing information, emotional support and reassurance to women and their partners
6-taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
7-caring for and assisting women in labor
8-monitoring and administering medication, injections and intravenous infusions during labor
9-monitoring the fetus during labor
10-advising about and supporting parents in the daily care of their newborn babies
11-helping parents to cope with miscarriage, termination, stillbirth and neonatal death
12-writing records
13-tutoring student midwives
14-Ability to manage emotionally charged situations
15-Excellent team working skills (help other departments if needed)
16-Interpersonal and communication skills
17-Strong observational skills
18-An interest in the process of pregnancy and birth
19-following the patient in the labor room and post-delivery ward
